I have always had a preference for the movement architecture of a classic chronograph over the vertical clutch systems so prevalent today. I also like the cleaner dial when there is just the 30 minute counter, eschewing the 12-hour counter (though new designs like the Omega 9300 movement solve the problem nicely by combining elapsed minutes and hours in a single subdial).
