Robin, I saw the new Traditionelle Day Date / PR at the ION
Boutique a few months ago. In fact I saw both the PT CEP and the PG version (pictured here). The PT version is a lot nicer. I do not like the subdials on the PG version. And I also feel the PG version is a bit overpriced.
Yes, I agree that sometimes the older models have a lot more personality. This was evident in the Sound of Time exhibition at ION a few months ago, where the MR from 1940's was just awesome. But that said, I do love the Patrimony 1731 MR. I would love to commission a bespoke VC which has the dial design elements of the 1940's.
This is true with many brands. Modern VC's are gorgeous most of the time. But I think older PP's are a lot more charming than the modern / current PP's.
