My first VC.............
I have been looking for a "Classic" watch for a few months. After hanging around the various forums here and at TZ and researching and going through the wonderful process of considering and eliminating watches, I finally decided on a Vacheron Constantin that I find is all I wanted and hoped for. Here are some pictures I took today.
I enjoy the VC forum. It is quite congenial and without much of the noise and banter that is so prevalent at some other forums.

I considered the VC Patrimony 81180 with the manual wind Caliber 1400 as well but decided on the 85180 for two reasons. First, I need a seconds hand in my line of work and second, I like the relatively new automatic caliber 2450. The 81180 is also 40mm in diameter which I like and has an even thinner case at around 6.7mm.
I was a little worried that the date window in the 85180 migh look very prominent, but it is most definitely not. It does not take away from the elegant face of the watch. The hand bent hands of the watch are pure elegance as they sweep around the dial that is also very slightly sloping around the border. The very gently curved sapphire crystal is pure 50's classic watch elegant. The opaline silver dial fits the yellow gold of the watch beautifully. As you can tell I am in love with this watch. I hope you like it too.
