The minute hands go to the railroad track on each model, which I think is ideal. The 82172 hour hand is proportionally shorter. In looking through the catalog it seems that there was a shift in thinking on the hand length during the Traditionelle era, with the 87172, 82172, Calibre 2755, 47292, 43172, and 47192 all having the proportion as on the 82172 on the left in the photo below. More recent models like 14-day touribllon and World Time seem to share the proportions of the 43075 on the right below. I have asked VC to share thoughts on such design decisions and will report back when I have an answer.
