That’s the strap I normally wear in this weather (later that day it fired up to 43) but in all fairness I just couldn’t find the rubber strap that quickly haha
The main difference with championship courses in Europe is the size of the bunkers. Once you’re used to the bunkers out here, most of them in Europe appear to be lot smaller. The photo says it all. Some say these are not bunkers but that entire hole is li...
I find that Championship golf courses in Spain, Portugal, and France have rather large bunkers. At least the ones I have played do. Played golf and tennis the majority of my life and started at a very young age. Played both competitively as a teenager and...
We discovered golf only about 10 years ago. Started playing when is was 50 and year later my wife joined as well (she’s now more fanatic than I am). Every other 5 years or so I tried the game but either didn’t have the time or didn’t like it that much. Al...
And I do agree that living on a golf course is the best. So much easier to play, practice, and enjoy drinks or a nice meal in the clubhouse afterwards. Would be great if you do visit as I am sure you would have an amazing time in the south of France. Lots...
My course was open again last Monday after 2 months. Played Tuesday evening weather was perfect, no wind and warm. Heading out this evening again. Cheers S ...
Play a round of golf, talk watches. You bring that fantastic Patek, I’ll bring one of my VC’s. Looking forward although it may be a while before I get in the neighborhood
BTW, the ownership of my golf club is Dutch. We have a few annual club tournaments divided into 2 teams which are Hollard vs the World team (sort of like a Ryder cup format. It is really fun 😉
It’s a very sociable sport. Basically because you play against yourself and with another player. The handicap system (with its limitations I agree) evens things out. The other element is the social networking. Pre-COVID era the club organized some form of...
and I agree, the social networking as well as friendship made on the golf course are priceless 👏 I remember a golf trip a few friends and I took to Palm Springs in California. We played all the Championship courses we could for a week. So, like you, we pl...
After re-reading our conversation on golf, I can only arrive at one simple conclusion: you and I must play a round together regardless on which continent that may be.
Beautiful picture of your golf course. I live at Jumeirah Golf Estates where they have 2 championship courses Earth and Fire. They reopened for members only 2 weeks back and have been playing most of these 14 days. Whenever you’re in Dubai let me know in ...
maybe next time you come back to the Netherlands and take a detour to visit France (Paris and Cannes/Nice/Monaco area) send me a message in advance and we can arrange something together. The golf club was closed also for COVID-19 but recently opened back ...
Just took a quick peak at Royal Mougins: what a stunning course. No wonder it’s listed in the top 7. Really looks great. You mentioned the US: I’ve never played golf in Florida but I’ve played at Dove Mountain in Arizona. Absolute stunning course and mana...
I grew up in south Florida which I believe has more golf courses per mile than any other part of the world so luckily I had access to many different types of courses when I was younger. I have lost count of how many I have played in Florida over the years...
My local Carton house has two courses, an inland links and a woodland. Plus plenty of other courses nearby. As I'm not traveling now I can get 3 games in a week. There is some positives from the lock down. Cheers S
Thanks for your kind invitation. Carton House isn’t that just outside Dublin on the M4? And if so, if it’s not too impolite or inappropriate to ask, I would guess you might very well live in Dublin? Reason I’m asking is that we have lived an odd 4 years i...
to the clubhouse and 20 to the city centre. Rathgar is a very nice suburb for sure. 4 years is a decent time to spend in a place. Hope we treated you nice. No comparison here for watering. There was probably the same rain fell here today as you've had all...
We truly enjoyed our time there. Made long term friends and even though it’s approx 25 years ago since we lived there, there are million memories fresh alive. I’ll never forget how the husband of my secretary and his father invited me for a day fishing in...
organize a golf “merry go round” playing 4 times per annum, start in Florida, 3 months later Ireland, another 3 months later Core D’Azur en finish in Dubai. Or 3 x per annum and skip Florida Willing to bet that if we set it up, a bunch other guys will par...
I just fear this COVID-19 situation will drag out until there is some sort of vaccine or definitive treatment which might be longer than we would all like 🤦♂️
COVID indeed is a bit of a stand in the way factor. But it won’t last forever and the sooner it’s over the better. Obviously it would require some planning but for now it’s great to just even dream away with the idea.
Hopefully in the next 2-3 years I can get my hands on a 4500V to join the VC community! Still have to try one and who know when I will get to a boutique again... not many close to Michigan.. -D-
