As a V&C 's enthusiast, do you ever think about the following questions?

1.Pocket watch or wristwatch?

Collect pocket watch need to consult a lot of information in advance, generally not suitable for beginner. But historical informations itself are priceless. In the process of continuous learning and progressing , we can get the joy of success.

2.Do you want to collect perfect antiques, or you can accept valuable V&C with a few flawed ?

Perfect antiques are priceless. However, it is difficult for V & C with a long history to avoid defects, especially before 1950's, most of them were not waterproof and perfect preservation became impractical.

ref 6394 is the first vintage watch which I bought. A few years ago, I was not satisfied with a few flaws. Now, I think it's close to perfect.

A few years later, I bought ref 4724. Although the dial has oxidation ,but it's original. The years left beautiful traces. wabi-sabi.

The production time of the two watches is about 15 years gap, and the structure of the case is also different, so it can't be evaluated by the same standard.

3.Do you want to buy a refinished dial?

I won't buy it. There are incomplete original dial, at least retain the original taste.

4.Does anyone particularly like the guilloche dial?

At least I am. The price of the V&C in 1950s which used guilloche dial is 5% more than an ordinary dial.

The perfect guilloche dial is hard to find now. It's lucky to be original condition when you buy it.

I am also a beginner, waiting more friends here .

I hope you don't mind if I insert this brief review of the 6394 from years ago? It should be of no great surprise to my fellow Loungers that I believe Vacheron & Constantin’s wristwatches of the 1950’s and 60’s as among the finest timepieces ever created....

I'm glad that you joined the disccussion and shared so much.

The first time I heard 6378's nickname, Ecossaise ("Scottish"). I think the nickname "lunette linge" is very accurate. I am still in the learning stage. My fixed thinking is to understand and explain western culture with oriental thats wrong. At first, I...
