I remember Huges and I remember this watch well
Huges was a GREAT representative and ambassador of Vacheron Constantin. My first several encounters with him did a lot to convince me of how special the brand was. I have always been greateful for his kindness and that he was essentially my intorduction to the brand.
As for that Perpetual Calendar Chronograph...well that has always been one of my favorite iterations of that model and that combination of complications. That reference was produced when VC was making platinum pieces with signature gray dials like the one you show here. You could only get those gray dials with a platinum case, until VC intriduced the Deep Stream Overseas models in the 2009-2011 years with a similar gray dial and steel cases. Those were the exception to the rule.
Last year, or perhaps it was earlier this year VC intruduced th is same Traditionelle Perpetual Calendar Chronograph with a salmon dial paired with a platinum case and they suggested that this would be the new pairing going forward (platinum case with salmon dial). I don't believe they have released any subsequent models with this new paring, or what the current status of that policy is, but perhaps we will see a new model with this design vocabulary in 2023?
Anyway, what a spectacular model, my friiend! You wear it so well.
