I own a Landau with a similar date system (outer rotating date disc) which is exactly the same than this UN. I can’t exactly remember when this system has been invented (during the 50s if my memory serves me well) but you can find it under various brand names (Landau, Abercrombie & Fitch Co, Pallas...). If I’m right, Blomman owns a watch with the same system and he could give you more info.

It’s the first time I see this date system in an Ulysse Nardin timepiece. In my opinion, it is not rare but much rarer with Ulysse Nardin written on the dial. I can’t tell you if this UN watch is genuine or not unfortunately and if the dial has been repainted or not.

Nevertheless, it’s a really cool little watch and if you can get it for a reasonable price I would say why not 😊
