These UN Perpetual GMT watches are out of production. I do not see them in the current UN line up of 2019 watches. I was able to locate some on the web. I am not even sure that my local AD has any. That is why I am posting this question here.
I have a Rolex PT DD (36mm) and a Rolex 18K GMT 2 (40mm). My DD was supposed to be my daily watch and GMT 2 was supposed to be my travel watch. However, I found myself not wearing my GMT 2 for travelling as it attracts attention. Think about this, if I go to some other countries and want to bargain for something. I would never get a good deal if people notice my 18k GMT. The recent Rolex Sky Dweller caught my interest but the fluted bezel shouts Rolex and it is also big. I could get another Steel GMT 2 but the steel GMT 2 watches are all selling above list. I have never bought a watch over list and I do not intend to. The new Explorer 2 seems to be reasonable but it is also big.
I started to look at alternatives and I notice the original Ulysse Nardin Perpetual GMT watches (38.5 mm). I know Ulysse Nardin probably would not hold value but if I can get one on discount, it is doable. The Perpetual GMT combines my DD and GMT 2 functions. If I get one in white metal, it is not flashy (excluding the El Toro Series).
I do like this 2014 LE UN but this one is at 43 mm which is even bigger than the 42mm Sky Dweller and the Explorer 2.
Since these UN Perpetual GMT watches do come in 38.5mm and 40mm, I still can get one in slightly different styles. If this 2014 LE UN is too big, I would give it a pass. I do not like the idea of having a hockey puck strapped on my wrist.
Thank You for the info. It seems that the Blue is more expensive. While all three colors look great, I would probably get a white dial one as it seems to be the most legible and attracts less attention. What do you guys think? Any comments would be appreciated.
