And the people of Liverpool have had to watch and wait for a title they once won almost every year. We have waited through Alex Ferguson and the Manchester United dynasty and now we wait through the Pep Guardiola and Manchester City dynasty. During this drought we have seen teams (no disrespect to their fans) like Blackburn and Leicester win the title and yet we wait.
To an outsider it might seem crazy to put domestic honors above European glory. But it is a fact of human nature that people want what they cannot have. Right now, a Liverpool F.C. fan is like a watch fan and the Premier League trophy is like a Rolex steel sports model. So close yet so far away. Yeah, we just got the gold Daytona, but we really want that steel sports watch!!
