TimeOut

Wow! We probably passed each other on the streets

of Tokyo!  It looks like we were there at very near the same time as you were.

Tokyo was an absolute joy. The people, the culture, the food, the scenery, the bullet train, the shopping, all spectacular. My family can't wait to go back and now that we've got a hang of all of the in's'n'outs we'll hit the ground running. Usually after spending almost 2 weeks in one area, we get bored and can't wait to move on but it felt like we barely scratched the surface of Japan.... certainly the efficiency and speed of the bullet train helped!

We flew over on the 787 and it was a fantastic.  Flying back home, three hours after wheels up the 8.5 earthquake hit Tokyo and while we were in Nikko a minor earthquake hit and the building swayed and alarms blared! I looked around and everyone seemed to have that wide eyed look and stance sprinters have right before the gun, ready to bolt out the door if the tremors continued or increased. Thankfully it didn't.  Unnerving regardless.  Interestingly we had the best pastry at the Tokugawa shrine coffee store of all places!

Now we're headed to LA next month.... hmm maybe i should pick a less earthquake prone area for our next trip! Maybe Europe since the Euro seems to be suffering with the Greek drama playing out... $110 USD to Euro right now..... so tempting.

Thanks for the photos, it brought back GREAT memories.
