Sad News, Cessna Crash in San Diego
If you have been watching the news, a private jet crashed in a San Diego neighborhood today, killing all onboard and burning many cars and a dozen homes. There were only a few minor injuries on the ground.
It happened in an area we have walked and reported on before. Some high-voltage power wires crossed a canyon and were struck by the jet. The airplane came in too low and too fast, in heavy fog with visibility less than 1/2 mile, at 3:47 am.
Red lines show the power lines that cross this area. The plane should have been several hundred feet higher.

It struck the wires and some parts were found under the power lines.

A photo I took of a plane on the proper approach, last summer.

A favorite walking path of ours, in the red. Aircraft trajectory in blue.

I wore my IWC Spitfire that day.

Another plane coming in for a landing over our heads.

A sad day for many in the Navy community whose cars and homes were destroyed, and for the families of those onboard.
