Murray Walker ...

Legendary Formula 1 commentator Murray Walker has died at the age of 97.

Murray commentated on his first grand prix race for the BBC at Silverstone in 1949 and became a full-time F1 commentator in 1978 eventually retiring in 2001.
His working relationship and with fellow commentator James Hunt was legendary and provided us with many golden moments and on occasions much hilarity.
I had the privilege of spending time with Murray on several occasions and he was always a gentleman. We shared a couple of bottles of champagne one evening that will always be memorable for the fantastic stories including his memories of the last Grand Prix at Donnington, before the outbreak of the Second World War.
God speed Murray !
