Hanami, Part 2

I normally post Part 2 together with Part 1, but this second-day-report is special because: a. I didn't schedule time for a walk and b. my wife was out to lunch with her lady friends.

I had an important meeting this morning but amazingly, on the way driving over, I kept seeing more and more of "these bloomin' trees" (pun intended).

I went around the block to get a better look at this first tree:

Then I spotted this across the street.

This set were on the campus as I was heading to my meeting. I marveled at such flowering from trees I had never noticed before. Perhaps after their brief display the trees going back to being stealthy and quiet...

I walked around behind the buildings, up countless steps and was huffing and puffing when I arrived at the back entrance! We are planning an art exhibit for later in the year, and this is the gallery that's available for use.

My counterpart who I am helping put together the show. We are trying to figure out arrangement of the items, electric, lighting, sound, video projection, heat & A/C, etc.

Coming out the front doors I noticed more of these trees! The wind was gusting and the ground was pink/white with tiny petals. A picnic setting (except for the wind and chill off the ocean).

On my way back to the truck I saw a pinkish Ninja. I wonder if this is the Hanami Edition? It is Japanese; it looks like a gal's bike (and I saw a lady riding it a few days ago)

More student-budget rides, but what's that in the background? It's amazing how the eye fastens on familiar lines and shapes, isn't it? Of course, it's a C8 Corvette in a non-remarkable color.

It's almost the color of the ocean on this stormy day. So like the proverbial Chicken, I crossed the road (because it's a Corvette).

Then I was drawn down the path to look farther.

I wandered for awhile (no birds or bees to be seen) and then headed off campus. But you don't have to leave yet, if you want to see more of the amazing nature park below this big tree,

Look HERE and HERE for the hawk & wilderness day, and HERE for the quiet campus tour day with lots of birds and buildings.

I'm amazed at the details that the human eye can capture at a glance. In one sweep I saw the girl, the blue over white Corvette, and the blooming tree -- AND got a picture. Then I noticed the red light and stopped in time.

However, I did not see the tennis shoes on the wire until I put this picture up in its full-size glory.

I finally shook free of the trees and got home for some lunch.

Thanks for traveling with me today on the unplanned journey.
