TimeOut

Funny meme....

and even funnier exchange thereafter, maybe Edward simply had too much booze before making his comments aiming to come across wise and overqualified but ultimately rather dull and simplistic smile. Anyway, my personal experience is that academic achievement is looked upon far more diligently in Europe than it is in the US. Unfortunately, American individuals and entities tend to mostly care about bottom lines and not as much about theoretical and philosophical contributions. The bottom line (pun intended) being that academics inarguably carry more weight in general in European nations than they do in the US. If you are not in a highly specialized field like medicine and you are not creating impressive net income you can wipe your behind with your PhD.... and even then! Medicine has sadly been heavily profit-oriented here for the last couple decades. Oh well, at least we have the global P(hD)urist community here to feel at home regardless of national inadequacies and inefficiencies wink. Cheers, Filip (Not yet PhD but will get there either honorary or physically x)
