Another Bay, not Labor Day

Sep 05, 2024,17:41 PM

We headed onto Shelter Island about 6:30 in the morning,

as the harborside working men were fueling up on coffee... I said Nice Truck as we passed, he gave a nod and toot.

We headed for the launch ramp which provides a convenient viewing platform at 6:45 am

Even though it's Thursday after Labor Day, there's plenty of activity on the ramp and on the water.

The city recently put a new coating on the asphalt parking lot, as a pedestrian discovered, and left a trail

A pelican cruised overhead,

which didn't bother the gulls, who "own the place".

Until the Heron dropped in for awhile.

Meanwhile the old dudes had their boats off trailer, in the water, ready to go fishing.

Trailer-towing trucks were scattered thickly around the parking lot.

Backed down that salt water launch ramp a few too many times?

Other macho machinery too.

Yeow! That's in the shade and still BRIGHT!

It was busy on the water too.

The sidewalks were full of old walkers

Men playing on the grass with their dogs

This gal noticed the dog in the Scion and stopped to smile at him..

Bright red flowers caught my eye

but not my camera's focus so I had to redo this shot when we got home.

The wider-angle, higher-perspective of Shelter Island.

Thanks for walking with us this morning.

Is the bunny trying to pull a 'Jay Leno' with the curly bang 😂👍....

Going beyond the 5 miles a day in the Elan? 😁

Lovely to see it out and about and your morning is exciting as always 👌🏻👍🏻 And pairing it with the ABR and the red strap is a fantastic choice 👏🏻
