An interesting experiment in technology.

I haven't heard it, but other Disklavier performances I have heard have not been at all convincing to me. On a good piano, there's simply more to piano expressiveness than simple key speed. I don't know exactly what it is, but on a fine instrument (think Hamburg Steinway or Bechstein) it is possible to achieve significant variations in tonal color using "touch." The Yamaha system does not achieve those variations. I tend to think this is an inherent limitation of the Disklavier system, although I have to admit that for me the Yamaha piano itself cannot achieve those variations even when played by a person.
