The planning, the logistics, the pace team they assembled, the strategy etc.
Without it we wouldn’t be at this point today but I’m certain this will move things on as others now know it is possible physically. Not so long ago it was thought it would never be done.
Also, since his Breaking 2 effort Kipchoge himself has knocked considerable time off his official marathon time. Part of this is mental, just knowing you can physically do it.

I think if you run, or are a runner, the pace that these guys run 26 miles at is mind blowing. Even for those that are age group competitive, Boston Qualifiers for example which is the cream of age groupers, this is still just off the charts pacing.

Even my mile (or 1500m if you think classic track distance) is materially slower than that. That’s just one effort, all out. These guys put 26 of those back to back.
