The Cars of Ocean Beach, 2024

There were a number of interesting cars today, including this nice long-bed Chevy pickup nicely contrasted with the Cape Honeysuckle hedge and American flag.

Continuing the truck theme, a rare Jeep pickup with a small cab-over camper shell on the back.

Now a butterscotch PT Cruiser with fancy rims.

And the star for today! Hank's Hudson Hornet Hollywood edition beach cruiser.

Hemmings says,
One of the lowest-production Hornet variants of 1953, with less than 1,000 built, the $3,095 Hollywood hardtop two-door was Hudson’s sportiest offering, featuring the race-proven 160hp, 308-cu.in. L-head straight-six engine with Twin-H dual Carter carburetors and a heavy-duty GM-sourced four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission.

Notice the rear view mirror is a tiny wooden surfboard!

With beach-theme uphostery

San Onofre Beach Club on the license plate frame, as a suitably-pony-tailed elderly cyclist coasts by.

This one recently sold for $50,000 but I doubt it would be profitable to upgrade Hank's car to this condition...

Moving up about 70 years, here's a Land Rover. No, wait,

make that 2 Land Rovers. Do you think they go with the new modern house or the old cottage?

A VERY NICE Sixties Mustang here, wisely not trusting the parking brake, it had chocks under both front wheels.

and again.

An Eye-Searing Yellow newer Mustang convertible

Blindingly-Blue Electric "Mustang" (I can't get on this bandwagon)

Subtly tricked out Beemer.

Badly parked Beemers on either side of their driveway...

One of the few K-cars still on the road I suspect, a Chrysler LeBaron Convertible with wood-grain looking like new (and like the wood was an aftermarket kit - but it was factory)

And a sadly-neglected Buick LeSabre.

The neighbor nobody really wants to live next door to... or across the street from.

We will stop with the 2-Mini family cottage.

Cheers, and on to the houses...
