Legendary Formula 1 commentator Murray Walker has died at the age of 97. Murray commentated on his first grand prix race for the BBC at Silverstone in 1949 and became a full-time F1 commentator in 1978 eventually retiring in 2001. His working relationship...

A great gent and a fixture in racing for more than my lifetime

He really loved the sport.

A voice of the late 80’s, early 90’s for me. When F1 was on BBC and ITV for all to see.

First two words that come to mind when I hear Murray Walker are “Nigel Mansell”. If I’m not mistaken his real job in advertising had him involved in the creation (or pitching) of some pretty well known tag lines (in the UK and Ireland).

RIP. . I will missl you
