Political posts appropriate for this site?

I don't think so. Although I am English I have no strong views either way about leaving or staying in Europe.

But I feel strongly that this site is not the right platform for political discussion. Members operate in a cordial spirit around a subject that allows for plenty of different opinions.
We are not here to debate the many subjects for which there are any number of online platforms available. I do not know, and do not want to know, the political leanings of members.
if we go that route then we lose the very essence of this site.

Spending £50bn to leave the world’s biggest single trading area, so we can negotiate an inferior relationship with.......err....... the same trading area. All in pursuit of a ‘sovereignty’ we never lost. ...

This is hilarious

Human nature my friend. Haven’t you noticed that we habitually change things for almost no reason?

Plenty of reasons, my friend.

Unfortunately most, if not all in the case for Brexit, are illogical. ...

I don't envy Theresa May's position at all, she was a Remainer and yet has to deliver an impossible result. The voting public was seduced into thinking it will be easy to go back to the past and maintain its separation from the continent. Playing hardball...

+1, the most hillarious ever. [nt]

Thanks Colin - but it’s hopefully a forum for the odd joke

politically derived or otherwise? I did & do not intend to go deep into the politics on this subject or indeed any other - preferring the humour (even if it is of the gallows variety). Trust I have not offended or err’d from the forum rules. Regards. ...

You certainly did violate the rules of the Forum.

But a little violation never hurt anyone. Almost. Depending.

More a cultural post than a political from me: I would go even further than "no changes in 100 years" ...

Maybe 200 years or even 3 - to 400 years. But do not get me wrong: I liked the other 50% of Brits a lot, when I was leaving there and the UK is a fantastic country to live in, if you can afford it ...

Well - it was circa 100 yrs since the joke ;-)

But I get your drift! The UK and Scotland in particular have been a good home - yet it’s wet and often cold climate makes me increasingly yearn for a warmer & drier home.
