It’s a Beautiful Morning, Part 1
Yesterday I realized I had two more Gold Tone watches to wear on a walk. Before dawn I could see it was going to be a clear morning so I fixed some hot tea for the road and hopped in the truck with less than 30 minutes to sunrise. There aren’t that many great spots I can reach in that time, so I hit the highway and raced up Mt. Soledad in La Jolla. We’ve posted walks from here before but not for several years.

Made it! I’m not the first but I got one of 4-5 parking spots facing East.

South towards the city shows how clear the skies are. Hills in the distance are in Mexico about 50 miles away.

Insufficient light to get a clear shot but I’ll do better later.

Here it comes!

I was surprised to see a gang of college girls in their pajamas (“They do that” says my sister-in-law).

Sun-facing side of the monument.

Did I mention the sky is clear? What a shot!

Back side.

Five minutes after sunrise only one dog-walker is present; the rest said "Bin Here, Dun That, Let’s go"

Maybe Honda will buy this picture… view to the South & West

View to the North

Sun’s up enough that the gold has gone from the cross, but still low enough that my shadow is about 30 feet long.

Meanwhile the birds are trying to scratch out a living in the grass.

OK, enough long-distance photos. I think I will try to explore this corner of La Jolla a bit. If you appreciate different home architecture styles this is going to be your kind of post.
Please go on to Part 2 (give me a couple minutes to get it going -- the post I mean, not the Corvette) ...
