1st Tag and one of my favourites

This year I was lucky to be invited by my main AD to join a small group of customers to visit Watches and wonders. This AD has several branches in my country but I only dealt with my local one. In Geneva I got to know the manager of another branch and we get along very well. While visiting Tag Heuer booth I mentioned that I didn’t have any Tag, didn’t follow the brand very closely, but this year got fascinated with the 60th anniversary Carrera.

He concur it was a beautiful watch and that even though he asked the importer for it, he only received one piece that he ended up keeping for himself. I congratulated him and we moved on the conversation to other subjects. In the end of the fair I promised to visit his store when I got a chance to be in the city.

Fast forward to a couple weeks ago I had to schedule some business in that city and gave him a call to see if he was in the store on the day of my visit and if we could meet. He was supposed to be out at the time I could be in the store, but told me he would wait so we could meet. He also asked if I still liked the Carrera and I said of course, it is THE Tag I would love to have. He answered, ok, you can have it. It took me a bit to realise what he was saying, but I think he understood how happy I was over the phone. After all he kept the watch in the store safe and ended up never buying it for himself, so it was still available to purchase new.

Last Friday I went by the store, we had a great talk and I bought the watch. It wasn’t the only one I bought, but I leave the rest of the story to the Vacheron forum

Here are some pics

I love silver sunbrushed dials and no date chronographs so it ticks a lot of boxes. What were your thoughts about thickness?

It doesn't bother me

the center case isn't that thick (I think it is about 8mm), so the rest is the case back, which sinks unnoticed in my wrist and the tall crystal which I really enjoy. But of course, if it was a bit thinner it would be (even more) perfect!!

As classic as the sub is for Rolex
