It's possible that you could do better entrusting your watch with a specialist Seiko watchmaker. Parts aren't necessarily impossible to find but the last service I did took a lot of parts searching and cost $350 - perhaps more than the watch was "worth". Even so, the owner was very happy.

It could be that your watchmaker surmises that your watch could be a time-consuming effort not worth his while (profitable) to service. And who would blame him. Having said that, other guys could be happy to take it on. Let us know what part of the world you're in and maybe by email we can suggest a few shops.

Almost all Seiko watches are available on bracelets, but there are very few automatic Chronos. You could get some ideas here:
