The 62GS Reissue

Feb 02, 2019,10:40 AM

This is the only modern Grand Seiko I own, and the only modern Grand Seiko I’ve ever purchased.  There’s a chance should GS announce some further historic reissues at Basel next month that this situation may change, but only if the sizing is right (37mm or below).  Let’s see what March brings!

Back to the watch, its a little larger than the original from the late 60’s, about 1mm larger at 37mm, but due to the lack of a bezel it does wear larger on the wrist than the measurements would suggest.

Crown at 4, a design cue which identified the original as an automatic watch.

As one expects with lots of angles on the case, on the dial with the markers and on the hands this watch catches light at every opportunity.

Yes, a little too big for what I like in GS.

I had this one since it's release but it doesn't get much wrist time. Mostly when I reach for GS I tend to go for the vintage, I need to change this as this really is a great little watch.

It’s a fantastic watch...

And I keep kicking myself for not having gotten one when I had the chance. Oh well... Great shots, btw. 👌🏻

Thanks. Hopefully there'll be something interesting next month from GS along these same lines (historical reissue).

Although I think the brand awareness in the west has increased materially since 2015 and so anything new and appealing will likely have a higher numbers of eyes on it this year!

That's my only GS, too. I still haven't found another modern GS that I need to add

except for the 44GS, but I need to find a NOS/unworn one which is pretty much impossible at this point.

That's a tough find also, but I'd agree insofar as based on what's been released the 44GS is also a very attractive offering.

To me the 44GS case is so much more in line with the GS I love than he 62GS. The 62GS has its own charms, but one needs a case like the 44GS to really appreciate the old GS.

Waiting for GS re-issue. [nt]
