Taking the Fifth on the River
We started a bit later today and went over to the San Diego River, in a section I hadn't walked for 15 years. West of the native plant garden and east of the areas we've shown before. This is in the heart of shopping malls, new condominium complexes, and the random homeless encampment (I won't show you those).
It was peaceful as we started our walk. Mrs C spotted these doves keeping social distance on the branch.
I on the other hand had my eyes in the sky, watching the moon in the west
A seagull was making a noisy bath in the river, watched closely by two of his friends. I think the one in the middle was a female.
The one in the foreground said, "I'm outta here" and took off at just the moment I pressed the shutter
A nice variety of colors highlighted by the rising sun.
Looking eastward toward a large hotel. Condos on the left (north) bank.
Here we are under the trolley bridge and crossing to the north bank of the river. Along this river road there's time for a wrist / moon shot. My wife once complained about her watches being too small, and too hard to read (she is farsighted so can easily see doves on a branch, but not her wrist). I bought this Seiko 5 to prove to her that not all watches are unreadable.

This fake owl was not impressed by the nonchalant attitude of the seagulls who are supposed to be afraid of him. The gulls were hanging out above a fast-food outlet, hoping to steal breakfast from some unwary pedestrian.
A few years ago I was having breakfast outside on the dock, while waiting for a whale-watching tour. My pal Scottie had scrambled eggs and bacon on his plate. A gull came swooping in from behind us and took the bacon right off the plate and kept going. He left the eggs. The entire crowd burst out laughing. Scottie went inside and demanded 2 more strips of bacon. They gave him new eggs too.
Although there were dogs coming along the trail every 4-5 minutes, the wildlife was still present; a bit wary but also looking around for breakfast.
This hummingbird's beak needs a cleaning!

The mushrooms were close enough to harvest, but I didn't take them. Maybe next time.

Two business owners I know are making a huge business from the pandemic (unintentionally) Advance Repro (Quick Print/Sign Makers) and Dr Bronner's Soap.
I have seen this large sign with extravagant 4-color printing all over the city, and I wonder how many and how much $$.
