Hello folks,
I have decided to share a few details of the changes going on at the Seiko Group. This follows on from a POST that I did a few years ago to understand the complexity of this company. So perhaps we can "open the kimono" and reveal how and why Seiko products exist and develop as they do...
Cheers,
Cazalea
SEIKO
We operate in line with our founder Kintaro Hattori's desire to "contribute to society through the watch business.” Our vision and message have evolved to: “As a company trusted by society, we will constantly pursue innovation, inspiring people everywhere, and creating a future full of smiles.”
Corporate Philosophy:
A Company that is Trusted by Society
- Offering high-quality products and services with the consistent emphasis placed on a customer-oriented approach.
- Further enhancing the value of the Seiko brand that has been nurtured by its customers.
- Further improving management transparency and fairness and focusing on environmental concerns.
As
our Group continues to grow, we will continue contributing to the
development of a sustainable society. We have established a new
Sustainability Policy. We aim to solve social issues (materiality) by working towards the realization of WITH, which stands for
- Well-Being - A Better Life
- Inclusion - For All People
- Trust - Certainty and Trust
- Harmony - Harmony with the Earth
We
will continue to engage in sustainable activities to create a future
where the world is filled with smiles, and to achieve sustainable growth
for our company and society.
New Management Plan
The Mid-Term Management Plan, called Seiko Milestone 145, or SMILE145, was announced in May of 2022. Its main message? We will become a "solutions company" rather than simply a hardware and software sales company.
No company or brand can be sustainable if society itself is not sustainable. This concern for the social context in which we operate is in line with our founder Kintaro Hattori's desire to "contribute to society through the watch business.” That spirit has been passed down in our DNA along with our corporate philosophy, to always be “A company that is trusted by society.”
The world is facing many challenges, including environments, diversifying values, and geopolitical risks. As a solutions company, we should remain close to society and provide products and services that help solve its problems. SMILE145 has established a system of three strategic domains based on the value we provide, rather than the product & service business segments of the past. These three strategic domains are:
- Emotional Value Solutions Domain
- Devices Solutions Domain
- Systems Solutions Domain
Through these strategic domains, we will respond to social needs across a wide range of fields and achieve sustainable growth as a Group.
We also strengthen our human resource development and diversity, which help promote our business growth strategy, and accelerate digital transformation in order to create new value. We will work together with all our stakeholders to address social issues while we continue to grow.
With the change of our company name, we will return to our roots as a "solutions company" and, staying “always one step ahead of the rest,” we will continue to share the special moments that move us.
We will bring the slogan “SEIKO: Moving ahead. Touching hearts” to life while advancing toward our 150th anniversary and beyond, into a future full of smiles.
CORPORATE VISION: Leveraging analog & digital synergies to offer products and services to sustainable societies, connecting people, things, and time throughout the world.
1. Analog & Digital
We have refined a wide range of technological
capabilities, focusing on our roots in the clock & watch business.
We will combine our century-old tradition of analog technologies and our sense of humanity together
with cutting-edge digital technologies to produce even greater
synergies in the future. By doing so, we aim to create new
technological, emotional, and social value.
2. Societies that connect people, things, and time
By connecting people, things, and time, we want to “shrink the world” and bring people closer together, joined by a sense of security and deep feelings. We want to create societies
where feelings flow timelessly, and so bring smiles to the faces of
people around the world. We will contribute to the shift away from mass
consumption to an inclusive and sustainable circular
society that places special value on people and the things that matter
to them.
