I have had many of both types

Currently the count is

2 automatic
3 manual wind
2 Spring Drive automatic
1 Spring Drive manual wind
4 quartz

There have been 2 Grand Seikos I bought and never found myself liking it -- one quartz and the other was a recent Hi-Beat GMT.

I'd say buy a Spring Drive of your choice - I doubt you would regret it.

Cheers,

Cazalea
