Aliens and Seiko

Something was happening to the East -- an immense light in the sky that kept growing brighter,

highlighting the alien shapes that rose up before us on the hillside. Was it another War of the Worlds? Were these the new fighting machines?

Everywhere we looked, we saw strange life forms, shapes, colors, angles and curves. I could swear those cactuses were quivering like Tribbles...

The trees were not normal trees

Maybe they were sentient beings, from a planet with a different gravitational force than ours?

The leaves were unique

It seemed like an army bent on of interplanetary invasion (should we warn the two homeless guys sleeping unawares?)

We saw a few Earth life-forms who like us were cautious, edgy, staying out of sight as much as possible.

What did they sense? Impending Oppression? Domination?

In any event, they were wary and close to protective cover...

Are those flashes of fire from their gun ports? Or just weird flowers?

Even the bees went about their business with an unusual intensity,

literally sucking in all the nectar they could; gathering pollen while they had time!

The hawk was on guard, right above our heads

We ducked behind a shield, sure that we hadn't been seen.

And then it happened! The hummingbird behind me chirped "Look at your wrist, you fool!"

And I realized the alien invasion was only a figment of my imagination, projected from my Seiko Guigario "Alien" Chronograph

Whew! That's a relief...

As somebody who could get only a little further east (on the mainland US) I love the west coast too.

A great story! An HG Wellsian style story!
