A first attempt to talk about my experience of the SBGW253 Limited in Stainless Steel as with other brands I own now or had owned before.
First thing first, I never really talk too much in details of any of the watches I owned or now owning, so it would be my first attempt. I only own the GS for 7 days but it just give me a urge to write something about it.
1. This a a beautiful but simple watch, three hands and manual winding which I like a lot. Allowing me to wind the watch every morning is a pleasure that I enjoy. The winding is very smooth and it give a very subtle feedback sound that I know I am adding energy to it.
2. All the hands and markings are so crisp and shiny that it almost resemble white gold luster despite they are only made of Stainless Steel.
3. 38mm is perfect for most wrists including mine as it has a better presence on the wrist . Making it bigger would not make it look nicer IMHO . It is very balance at 38mm.
4. The white dial though without decoration on it, it is so white that sometimes I could not take my eyes off it.
5. I researched a bit about the movement on the GS web site, and of course even it is closed back, the movement is very beautifully decorated and well- made. I have confidence about it reliability in the long term.
6. Compare to the Spring Drive that I own, the accuracy is actually not far from it. 1-2 seconds deviations per 24 hours only.
7. Last but not least, this watch kind of reminded me of my first Patek experience that I had 18 years ago when I started to collect watches. At that time, besides a Rolex two-tone, I leaped into Patek territory and it did blow my mind away. And since then I experienced Jaeger Lecoultre , Girard Perregaux , Blancpain, Piaget, Vacheron Constantin , Audemars Piguet, Montblanc, Cartier, Corum , Tag Heuer and Oris. I even bought a few more expensive quartz watches as gifts to my late mother . Of course, buying more modern Rolex watches at the same time.. All the brands made me and still make me feel very happy but none make me so happy as the Grand Seiko.
This is only my personal experience and watch collecting journey.
Best regards,
Baxter
