My 'worst' watch with a Seiko movement, a NH36 runs 2.7s/d fast on average. I got it a month ago and will regulate the movement next week. Each of my other Seikos gains 2s/day or less on average, even years after the last service.
Japanese machinery usually does not require being lucky in my experience
