Darkness turns into Seiko Light
Today's walk was a bit of a flurry of indecision and back-tracking. We knew it would be clear and crisp (ie frost on the lawn). No dramatic clouds. We decided to go for the view rather than the ground at our feet, so that meant high on a hill with minimal obstructions. I did some early reconnaissance before waking my wife, and yes, it looked promising:
An hour or so later we saw this:

And as the sun rose we saw even more in the golden light.

Here's the watch for the day.
At the moment the sun topped the horizon we were behind a large house, but we could sure tell it had arrived.

We sat on a bench for a moment, then continued our quest for the ultimate tourist board photos of San Diego.

I got distracted by the two large hangars on North Island. Now the home of the helicopter fleet, they used to house PBY Catalinas in the Second World War and the Korean conflict. My dad piloted his "Flying Boat" from those hangars.

This isn't bad.

I think this street was aptly named, except the houses are now so large they overhang into the view.

We left the hillside and came down to the water, where I could get up close and personal with this cactus. I seem to have a thing about having my photo taken with these huge plants.
A friend of a friend owns this house; we have often admired it but never been inside. It has its own pier and dock too.

The water was calm, and the tide was high.
higher than we'd ever seen it before - right to the steps down from the street to the sand.
Now, what have I forgotten? We saw a squirrel (no picture), a swimmer (picture)

Some birds socializing in the sunshine.

lots of beautiful plants,

and a house where they seem to collect citrus and lamp posts.
MRs. C's Seiko Pendant -- the case is white gold plated; the mechanical movement was made in 1973, and I think I bought it for her about 10-12 years ago.
