I have to confess that I am a bit lost with Vintage Rolex boxes.
But I would say that the first box may well be correct for any sport model from the end of the Fifties, Sixties. ( GMT or Sub ), while the second box is also from the Sixties, to me, but I am far from being sure.
I have really hard time to try to find the correct box for my 6542 from III '58, I saw many contradictory informations, here and there.
Let's see what the others think.
If someone here could do a reference post about Vintage Rolex Boxes, it would be really great and helpful.

so far i have been collecting / reviewing / saving all ad listings from reputable dealers offering vintage rolexex displayed with their respective boxes while the dealers are reputable, their descriptions never really state "original" box, just "box & pap...

But I am pretty sure that the beige holder came later than 68... I would say end Seventies, Eighties... This is a real mess. I received my 6542 with a box which is more corresponding to the Seventies than to the late Fifties. The seller didn't know that.....

thank for that link - found what i was looking for - one of the boxes maybe 50s (i'll have to compare when it arrives) but if not, then both are 1960s boxes now to find the velvet board slotted holders rolexephemera.com
