There are questions no doubt, especially in the last few years given how certain references are seeing crazy demand.

This AD is selling a new 5711 as an AD on one side and the same watch BNIB for double the price on the other side.
Personally, I don’t believe for one minute that this is not a huge potential conflict. However, it’s only an issue now because of the market demand / supply and resulting pricing. Nobody would have cared 5 years ago and so I do find it to be a tricky one to criticize too harshly.
And there are many other industries where similar conflicts exist and even in the heavily regulated one these issues are extremely hard to police.
At the end of the day the buyer has ultimate responsibility; if we are happy with the price then OK. Anything a little grey or darker that might have gone on to arrive at that price must be considered by the buyer in their acceptance (or not) of the price.
