Nobody knows about the future value.
I have both. If I could keep only one, it would be without any hesitation the Yacht Master. It's a very special watch and even the corners of the case have been rounded unlike the "standard" Rolex watches. The dial is very special and what I like a lot is that many people can not recognize immediately that it's a Rolex.
Finally, by getting one for yourself, you might be obliged to get another one for your spouse.

Well the picture speaks for itself Kari !!! I have a weakness for the yachtmaster as you do , my only problem might be the bezel which can be scratched Vs the ceramic one of the GMT. Best Maher
I bought my M two years ago
and I have been wearing it a lot. If you look at the picture carefully, how many disturbing marks can you find? I can't see any even in the real watch. Best, Kari

The Yact-Master...
...is probably the most comfortable watch you will ever wear. Plus you will never get bored of the dial in changing lights. If you're worried about value buy pre owned.

If it matters what it is like with a suit...
.....then GMT. More discrete. If I had to choose between the two, then GMT because I am just not a fan of the yachty at all. Does that help you? I am guessing not since you probably don't give a hoot what I like or don't like.... I definitely own watches ...
