It's a noble effort but I think it might be easier

 

to just have a guide on what each of the number or set of numbers in a Rolex reference number means


Remember, this is for the model reference number not the serial number of the case.  Also, note that the Sports models don't always follow this exactly and that as reference numbers increased digits over time or sapphire replaced plexiglass crystals, the meanings have also changed.

162=Men's Datejust (16=Men's watches with date)
3=Bezel - fluted
4=Material - white gold (bezel) and stainless steel (case)
