Thanks for commenting my friend, been researching myself since a few days and I can easily find some others non-hyphened 6542's either in past auction catalogues or in the so called "reputed dealers"...the question still remains if these could be service dials or not...have sent out a few enquiries, hope I'll get some convincing answers. It looks like next Saturday I'll be checking the watch again; u in town?

I never saw a 6542 dial without the hyphen between Oyster And Perpetual.

Have found a few like this generally cased in \'57s, but not sure if these are replacement dials; could replacement have the Swiss only signature?

My opinion
I am cant rely on the same literary resources as most of my fellow collectors on Watch Prosite . But i would argue it is original as the patina of dial markers are the same as the hands . Regards ,

if I remember correctly the hands are a bit more greenish than the markers although the overall look is pretty uniform indeed. not sure that is a criteria by itself to assess the originality of the dial tough..I've seen some pretty amazing examples sold b...

I echo Nicolas sentiment. Just because we did not see one without dash does not invalidate
It is hard to draw a conclusion based on the dash. But is is hard to offer comments based on just one picture. Who knows you may have the worlds only unique dial "Prototype" without dash and you are the lucky one. Best Bill
There is the albino 6542 in white, which is pictured without the dash.
Also going through auction houses you would find some black 6542 dials without the dash. Does it make it all original, I cannot say. However, as we know early Rolex with some dial variations, why not argue that it can be reasonable. What about the 1675? D...
