A true gem is new to my little Day-Date collection.
It’s a Rolex Day-Date 1803 in red gold from 1961. This is a rare transitional piece with the old hands from the earlier 1950ies Day-Date models ref. 6511/6611 and the bezel with much finer structure compared to the later models. The dial is a so called „SWISS underline double dash“. SWISS marking normally means that higher radioactive Radium has been used for the dial. On SWISS dials the underline is marking the use of lesser radioactive Tritium. This kind of marking has been used in a very short period in the early 1960ies. Additionally the dial is a double-dash example as a dash is not only printed between Day-Date but also between Oyster-Perpetual. Absolutely unusual and rare in this configuration. But the cream on the cake ist the 7206 riveted Oyster bracelet in perfect condition with a big logo clasp 😍😍

Congratulations, you have a watch in an excellent state of preservation, it would be difficult to see another one like it from that year, in fact this watch already belongs in a place where it should only be on display. Regards
