By: amanico : September 20th, 2011-01:30
The title may surprise a bit, at first sight... But, if you think a bit about it, wouldn't you say that some rolexes are strongly linked to Italy? The Daytona is one good example, of course, but this chronograph can be linked with the whole universe ( sor...

When it comes to Grappa... I remember some serious games under the heavy Croatian Summer Sun, in a swimming pool, enjoying some fine Grappa. Well, I also have to say that Damjan started to play with my daughter's Barbie... Grappa can be bad for mental hea...

Two watches with a very strong personality. You managed to capture the 'essence' with these shots! Luckily, you have both, as it would be impossible to pick a favorite. The freccione is probably rarer but the "eggshell" has such a beautiful complexion. I ...
This is the kind of dilemma I hate. Hence I got both. ;)
By: amanico : September 20th, 2011-06:30
Not sure that the Freccione is rarer than this Transitional 16 550, my friend. Both being rare beauties, I'm more than happy to get both of them, along with my Polar Bear 16 570 and the infamous 6610. You'll see, you'll end with more than one. It is writt...
I fell in love with them! Now I am more tempted. :)

They have been near the top of my list for a while. I think they make a great pair. So tasteful, like other "Italian" Rolexes. Just a few days ago, I tried to bid on one 1655 (Mk1 straight hand) and one 16550 cream/ivory in an auction, but I played too ch...
Believe me, Schen, both are much nicer in the real.

There is something magic when you handle such pieces... They are worth some financial effort, at least, this is what I seriously think. Best, and good hunt, my friend. Nicolas. This message has been edited by amanico on 2011-09-20 14:20:29

Your passion is truly astounding. Best, Horo
It works very well on the 1655.
By: amanico : September 21st, 2011-22:03
Indeed! It is part of its very 70ies look. But I wouldn't say that the Freccione is the only one to look so nice with an orange hand. What about this Breitling RCAF? Best, Nicolas....
The answer is simple...

The 1655 may be my favourite GMT, but that doesn't take anything away from the beauty of your cream dial 16550. The Italian sunlight truly captures their beauty. Enviable photos and watches!!
