...I was absolutley cakked up in the stuff and washed myself, bike & watch off under the hose pipe before I dared go anywhere near the camera!. I am not really intending to get it quite so muddy again anyway as it was a pig to clean up, there are so many ridges, screwholes ( 22 on the bezel alone ) etc to get gunk out of. To be fair to RM, I dont really think it has been designed for muddy mountain biking, rather the oceans. which are obviously cleaner than the yorkshire moors!
All those ridges/flanges & screwholes etc are what gives the watch great character in the flesh, IMHO RM has done a fantastic job of 'Milleising' a drivers watch..yes its obviously a divers watch when you see it, but unlike any I have seen before, and yet it is very obvious to watch enthusiasts that it is an RM. Size wise I am fine with it, fits my wrist perfectly and feels great to wear, lightweight & as with all RM's it sits perfectly, belying its size. The way the strap meets the case and the way they both complement each other is a fantastic design, I am so pleased to see RM design in this way like the strap is at one with the case...I have always seen the straps as a bit of an after thought on the Tonneau cases until the rubber straps came along, as most straps just seemed too thin to complement the great lines of the cases....not so with the RM28, it is a beautiful coherrent desgin.
Another thing I notice is the winder shoulders, they really finish the watch off, again giving a lovely coherrent desgin across the whole case & strap...I do not know why they have left the shoulders off the RM25, as it just looks a bit 'wrong' to me after seeing the RM28...
Anyway really like the watch as you may gather, Im sure some will not like the design at all, which is perfectly understandable, we are all differant, I am very much looking forward to a sunny break somewhere to get some beach sand/pool/scuba/snorkelling in before too long ...this watch simply insists I do!!
Big thanks to Denis at th RM boutique in Paris, top bloke, absolute pleasure dealing with him, nothing at all was too much trouble, he flew across from France to meet me and deliver this piece...knowledgable & gracious, certainly my RM contact of choice going forward, cannot recommend him enough
