Don't they change them to clear at a service anyway..??
I'm sure this has been raised before and I'm sure somebody said they are changed to clear when the watch is serviced unless you specify you want them to stay red. This would suggest it is purely cosmetic and won't affect the future value.

Just look how some collerctors go crazy over the "Paul Newman" Daytonas. Another example is the Submariner (red lettering or not, gold through the clasp or not, holes in the case or not, etc).
