Forumners,

You know that Richard Mille and Jean Todt are friends and have worked on several occasions, some not linked with cars but charity events etc...

Today, to celebrate Jean Todt's 50-year career, the brand has unveiled 3 new versions of the RM 11-03, RM 050 and RM 056 models.

As the brand says "50 years of automotive passion, 50 years down an exceptional career path. At Chantilly Art & Elegance 2016 the brand celebrated alongside the man who wrote the greatest pages of motorsport history with an amazing Jubilee. [...] The two men agree to acknowledge one another equally obsessive, detail-oriented and demanding in their respective fields"

Firstly, the new RM 11-03 Flyback Chronograph is presented in this new blue and white Quartz TPT case which was impregnated with an exclusive blue resin. The assembly is then heated to 120 °C before being machined. Ken aka "KIH" could take a few pictures of the watch during the SIHH2017 if you wish to have a closer look:  www.watchprosite.com

Secondly, the Blue Quartz TPT is also used for the case of the RM 050 Jean Todt 50th Anniversary. This calibre houses a split-seconds chronograph regulated by a tourbillon. After the RM50-03 McLaren and its 7 grams caliber, this one is also weighing only 9.5 grams while offering startling performance.

And finally (my favorite), this exceptional mechanism also animates the final piece of the Jean Todt collection: the RM 056, which is housed in a stunning sapphire case. This case required no less than 1,000 hours of machining per case, including 430 hours devoted to grinding and 350 hours of polishing. I still remember the time I tried the RM056-01 version (less complicated movement), which is visible here:  www.watchprosite.com

The RM 11-03, RM 050 and RM 056 will be produced in limited editions of 150, 5 and 3 pieces, respectively.

These are amazing pieces for celebrating a great career, especially for people who followed him during his Peugeot Dakar and Ferrari years!

Best, Mark

If it was a much lower budget, from the experience I had from the RM056 I could try in the past, I certainly would have got it. i would never thought I'd say that before I tried it. However, today I would say... I prefer something else than blue. Too bad ...

Not my league... [nt]
