Is located south of 旭川 北海道 (Asahikawa, Hokkaido)... near the city of 美瑛 (Biei). It was a beautiful day, but turned freezing cold after the sun went down. The next adventure on this year's tour of the great North includes 旭岳 (Asahidake) the highest mountai...  

What's the story here? Is it a frozen pond, why is it blue?

is a man-made pond that is the result of work on the 美瑛川 (Biei River), carried out after the 1988 eruption of Mount Tokachi, to protect the town of Biei from volcanic mud flows. The color is thought to result from the presence of colloidal aluminium hydro...

I have experienced a similar situation on occasions. Beautiful light possibilities but then the temperature plummets 🥶.... but you got the shot 👌

So without a tripod I switch to digital after dark and pump up the ISO to 3200... at even at that ISO the posted photo was 1/6 second at f/2... hand held. It was one of the last photos from the series I took at the pond... when I looked around I was all a...

I can’t explain what it is or why it is but somehow I can look at your pictures for a long time. I download them, view them on the big retina 27 inch Apple screen and can just state at it And the longer I look at them, the more I see. Converging diverging... 

mainly because of the changing light and only choose one for the forum... with film I shoot much less but still look for interesting angles. I also tend to move around when working a location. Most of my posted photos are processed, the main adjustment is...

nice clean separation between the couple... I think I would be tempted to clone out the kite sail (bird ?)... the jetty adds the middle ground and creates a sense of distance, the horizon is level... the question of how to manage that 'triangle' lower lef... 

defines the works produced by Picasso between 1901-04 when he painted essentially monochromatic paintings in shades of blue and blue-green. This is my second "blue" photo from Hokkaido... maybe I am entering a Período Fotografía Azul... ; ) Casey

The perspective you chose suggests movement-similar to a street shot at night with cars racing by. Nice work.

with the x100t (mirror-less) it requires a bit of luck... at that moment I think I was already frozen stiff ; ) Casey
