I used to adore Canon, cheap and good quality stuff, but they let me down on 3 warrenty issues with my cameras, went Nikon and never looked back. It is amazing how the smallest attention to
detail can make and break a company. The reason a lot of people end up going to independent brands is because of the quality, family orientated service and price that can sometimes exceed the brand names (Sigma comes to mind here, an amazing company and have the reputation to prove it, they've created their own brand behind the name and service). Again each person's experiences vary but I do hope Canon (at least in Europe) have exceeded their previous standards, the article was a good read a nice to see them mixing the "old" ways with the new.
