I have passed near 硯石 (Suzuriishi), Nagano Prefecture (photo number 9) ... when traveling from Nagano (City) to Hakuba in early spring... gorgeous. according to a local guide: 鬼女紅葉の配下で、千里を駈ける女丈夫だったというおまんが、平維茂との戦いに破れて逃走途中に水を飲もうとして立ち寄ったという場所。水面に映った自分のあさましさに... 

we made our way across Kagami-ike (鏡池) which was totally frozen. ...  

Outside of Tokyo I have spent the most time in Nagano Prefecture, which isn't saying I have spent a lot of time there ; ) Top to bottom it's beautiful. Casey
