This information was officially released by Patek Philippe last week.
Mr Thierry Stern took over the Presidency of Patek Philippe SA Geneva at the end of August 2009.
He was appointed President of the Board of Directors, taking over from his father Mr Philippe Stern.
Born in 1970, Thierry Stern begun working for the family company back in 1990. His training path brought him to work in many services from production to business management and he took responsibilities in several countries. Since 1998 he was head of the Creation department and quickly became Vice-President, taking then part in group strategic decisions.
Mr Philippe Stern, fatther of Thierry Stern, begun his career in the company in 1964. President since 1993 his numerous contributions to the development of the family company range for instance from the current organization and production capacity as an independant manufacture (opening in 1996 of the modern and concentrated Plan-les-Ouates current workshop) to the creation of the Patek Philippe Museum exhibiting his own exceptional collection of watches. Among many watches created during his career, the calibre 89 proposed in 1989 for the 150th anniversary of Patek Philippe or the Star Calibre in 2000 for the new Millenary will remain in watchmaking history books. The Patek Philippe Seal presented in 2009 will certainly be long recognized as a testimony of his quest of excellence in watchmaking.
Mr Philippe Stern remains in the Patek Philippe Management Committee as Honorary President, along with the new President Mr Thierry Stern and the CEO Claude Peny.
As a long admirer of the Patek Philippe company and watches I'm willing all the best to Mr Thierry Stern for his new challenge, and take the opportunity to congratulate Mr Philippe Stern for his contribution to the prestigious watch company we all admire here!
