the size of your wrist
is an important deciding factor. I have the 5980 and the size fits me perfectly, can be worn up or down, waterproof to go with jeans or even board shorts, looks ok in a suit too. I also tried the 5205 but found it too big for my wrist as a "dress" watch, I don't like a dress watch to be so big. I also found the detailing, the dial, hands etc a bit too busy for my taste. I also have 2 other annual calendar: the 5146G grey dial which is my favourite annual. The other one is a 5960R, this one is big too but I wear it as a semi dress/sport piece. Just my personal view.
5980 or 5205G
This will be my first Patek purchase and after seeing these two models next to each other at an AD the other day I'm stuck on which one to pull the trigger on. I know they are different beasts but interested to hear people/owners opinions or This message ...
5205, easily.
One of the most fine and attractive watches EVER!. The Nautilus is no competitor to it, IMHO.
Go for the 5205G first
It's a modern annual calendar that is elegantly original. The 5980 can come in later. Both pieces are great though !
I will pick the 59891A if you like the more sporty look watch.
The higher water resitance on the nautilus is another advantage for daily wear.

it is an iconic model and first one-eye chrono movement developed. Dial is also more legible in any light conditions.

Patek is a classic watch manufacture... I really don't like the trend of sporty watches. 5205 all the way!

I think the annual calendar complication is probably more than most of us need, but I absolutely love knowing the day of the week and the (correct) date. The 5980 offers a nice date window but it will need adjustment every other month. I find the chronogr...
