Congratulations. 5711 is the most functional and versatile piece in the Nautilus series. You see more 5712 and 5980 on the pre-owned market than 5711, you can see people keep them for a long long time.

I think we are many to have changed our mind on the PP Nautilus. First, " not a watch for me ", then, when looking at it in the real, " wow, I have to get it ". The finish of the dial, this grey blue, is hard to describe, but I would say " captivating ", ... 

..going up on looking at those pictures. I'm aiming for this particular "star" as soon as possible.

Strange enough, like yourself, i too have a few complication pieces in my collection. Now beginning to take admiration on the simplicity of this versatile model. Congrat from an envious admirer.

Like yourself, I too have warmed to the Nautilus & also the Aquanaut range. I hope that it brings you many decades of pleasure.

Michael, Congratulations on your purchase. I'm sure it will bring you many years of reliable timekeeping and enjoyment. I had a not dissimilar conversion, having tried a 5980 on a whim a few months ago. I could not take my eyes off the watch and was more ... 

changing of mind is commonplace in our hobby. congrats on your 5711...there is no other sports watch that is that versatile and can double up as a elegant dresswatch that fits beautifully under one cuffs, certainly not the AP ROOs and VC Overseas.

AP RO 15202 and 15300. Both remarkably slim and elegant sports watches; and designed by none other than Gerald Genta the designer of the Nautilus.

I must say the dial and bracelet are very special for the nautilus... totally agreed with Nicholas that the dial with is dark grey blue is captivating and charming. the color changes from different angel of light. And the design and brushed and polished b...  

As far as I can see on the pictures ( I never tried a current model on, for some reason ... ) the bracelet clasp showes no safety feature / gear. Is there something extra avoiding the clasp to open accidentally, like a simple clamp / clip that goes axtra ... 

Moritz, I believe that there is a Calatrava Cross piece of metal that folds cover the bracelet, similar to the Rolex Submariner/GMT Master. You can see the metal Calatrava Cross safety feature in a few of the pictures. At least my 3800 has this "security"... 

... on top of the folding clasp, but , as far as I can recall having tried one 3800 on, it is not quite the same like the Sub's "secutity clasp". I have to try a current Nautilus on. Thanks for the respond. Regards Moritz

Moritz, a couple of quick photos of the current 5711/1A clasp system. Self explanatory I hope... I've never had the clasp open on me accidentally. Regards, Richard....  

For the very detailed and cleverly taken pictures! And yes: very selfexplanatory! It seems , still , to me as if this is a single safety feature system. Rolex's Euster Clasp looks / is safer, I believe: it is catching / latches first and than you can fold...
