Patek Philippe

Some pictures I could take of this Calatrava in Steel issued in 2006 for the opening of the Geneva Salon, if my memory serves me well. Strangely, this one let me cold. I had the same feeling when I discovered the first press files photos at the time of it...  

This 5105 « feels » way more Patek to me. But I’m biased I love rectangular cases (almost as much as tonneau ones 😁).

Same problem as the 5055 - the case and lugs look "stamped" --> pass for me On the other hand, the rectangular example you show us is quite delightful!

Perfect, simple dial. They even decided to keep the applied “6”, where some others would remove it completely 😉

…lacks personality and Patek DNA imho while on the contrary the 5105P looks very classy with a good balance between modernity and tradition.

The 5105, is Vintage through and through, case is based on a vintage and the movement was old stock cal 9’90”

Actually I swooned for this Patek which seemed, on level at least, to be the very Platonic ideal of a watch. It’s a good thing that tastes vary!

If I wanted a single, simple, just tell the time watch to wear every day, I think of the 5565 as the best I could do.

it's the closest calatrava you can get to the 565 tfs

& the movement is gorgeous to look at too. If I’ve to compare among Calatrava family then I’ll go 5196P, better than 5565 imho. Definitely 5196p is going to be cheaper than both 😜

well balanced and clean, while having the Calatrava DNA. The 5105 is an interesting shaped watch and is unusual. My preference is for the steel 5565 due to its elegant design.

I'm getting a warm feeling for this one. Though the 5105 is lovely, the former watch has that stylishly sporty look. I also love the history behind the release, not to mention the engraved back. Of course it doesn't mean I dislike the latter. If there was...

This 565 is a personal favourite. I would definitely take a smaller case size to have a better placement of the sub seconds. Credit Bob Marron ...
