Trying to capture the Royal Navy blue of this aquanaut

You wouldn’t know it looking at the pictures on the websites, but it seems the shades of blue are different across Aquanaut and Overseas models as they are on the different Nautilus versions.

The new chronograph version of the Aquanaut has a royal blue navy shade that is quite different and comparably understated compared to the non chrono version. At least that’s how I recall the time only, I was on a plane a few years back and someone came into the cabin with the 20th anniversary AN and it caught everyone’s attention, what with the brilliant blue and the polished and brushed case. I noticed a few people staring at it.

I might be mistaken though. I do know for a fact that the VC time only, chrono, and my new Tourbillon versions have different shades and effects. My OS T has also a dark shade of blue.

The Nautilus PC I am considering similarly has a very different shade and effect than the blue on my 5980.

An interesting strategy, certainly makes it easer to justify owning more than one version in blue!

Glad you're already fully enjoying your new 5968G, and thanks for the interesting observations! It's indeed good many of these blue dials are different, as you mentioned, so as to further differentiate among sports references...

Here's actually this 5968G along with a couple of other blue dials for sports models that I had a chance to see at an event last month...interestingly, the 5968 blue does look quite similar (same?) to the iconic 5650G (a 2017 limited edition)! ;-) Cheers....

Thanks for those pictures

The advanced research is a legend! Can you confirm if the blue is really different from the time only?

I thought so

Thanks for confirming. It’s interesting that with both the Patek Aquanaut and Vacheron Overseas the time only has the brilliant blue, while the more complicated variants have a more conservative understated effect. Yet that’s quite the opposite with the N...
